Let’s face it, if you’re not technically savvy, replacing your printer’s ink cartridge can seem like a daunting task. When your printer says it is out of ink, try to stay calm by resetting it. If the steps below don’t help, don’t worry! Online with us, you’ll be able to find all of the HP ink cartridges and more.
How to reset 57, 28 and 22 HP ink cartridges:
Step 1: Make sure you have examined the refilled cartridge. Take a look at the bottom of the cartridge. There should be 6 copper contact strips. Go ahead and place the cartridge in front, with the copper contact strips facing you. Each strip has small squares, they are called contacts.
Step 2: Place a piece of tape over the top contact in the second column.
Step 3: It’s time to place the cartridge in the printer. Be sure to ignore the cartridge error message you may be getting on your printer’s display. From there, your printer should print a test page.
Step 4: Now remove the ink cartridge from the printer, but leave the tape on.
Step 5: Place a second piece of tape over the contact in the 6th row.
Step 6: Once again, place the ink cartridge in the printer and ignore the error message. Your printer should print another test page.
Step 7: Remove the cartridge from the printer, but this time, be sure to take the tape off of the contacts.
Step 8: Place the cartridge back in the printer. Your cartridge ink level should now read full!
